Roose Community Primary School

February 2010 saw the the completion of the first phase of works at Roose Community Primary School. They had a large open space in which they wanted to include a bespoke play unit to encourage exploration and investigation, imaginitive and active play.

Primary Landscapes rose to the challenge by designing and constructing a Fort which could be used by a lot of children at once. There is a scramble net for traversing the open space, a lookout tower with viewing holes, a tunnel for crawling and hiding, and a fallen tree trunk secured on top of a large mound. Grass-mats were also installed so that grass could carry on to thrive in heavy foot-fall areas.

A story telling area was later included into the play area which includes enough seating for a full class of children, a story telling throne for teacher and wood chip safety surface enclosed by log edging (photos to follow soon.)
