As with water play, sand play and mini-beasts are also one of the most engaging features for children. Both offer investigation, exploration, integration, construction and a certain amount of mess! The incorporation of a sand or mini-beast pit needs to be carefully considered with regard to positioning in relation to other activities and for maintenance.

The sandpit design can be standard as illustrated, which doubles as a stage area, or specifically designed to fit your requirements and situation. The mini-beast pit could consist of wood chips and rotting logs retained with landscaping logs as shown.
